Buy The Chihuahua Handbook by Caroline Coile Instead
Your Chihuahua's Life by Kim Campbell Thornton
Everything you you ever wanted to know about Chihuahuasand found it very helpful and specific. But now that I read Your
Chihuahua's Life I feel the Owner's Manual kind of sparse. I love
both books. The Owner's Manual has more pictures and a glossier
appearance, but the Complete Guide by Kim Thornton is definitely the
most comprehensive book on Chihuahuas I have seen so far. Being a
first time Chihuahua owner, I was astounded how accurately she
described and predicted the little quirks and behavior oddities of
these little guys. Unlike most breed books this book is clearly a
breed specific book. I found many other books to explain the breed
standard and history and then be almost identical in every other
aspect (training, health care, etc). This book is different. Many
things of specific importance to Chis (and no other breed) are
included in each of the very comprehensive chapters like Training,
etc. A big plus in this book for prospective owners is that she
describes the personality so accurately and realisticly. Most other
breed books will just describe their featured breed in the best
light. After reading this book you will know, if a Chihuahua is the
right dog for you, what to watch out for, and how to properly take
care of these little guys. My suggestion is buy Barron's Pet Owner's
Manual for the pictures and an introduction to the breed...and get Thornton's book for an indepth study.

Makeup Artists need this book
Good reference material.

We had to buy it......
Very sweet

Great Book!A pretty handy guide for horror film buffs, as this is the major category it covers (couldn't expect more from a "BFI" (British Film Institute) Companion though, could you? :-) ).
On the downside, some of the entries can be a little overcrowded with film titles, but good for the completist, i guess.
I'd love to see further editions, with more up-to-date info (it WAS printed in '96, afterall.)
Defintately a recommended buy.
valuable reference book

A good introduction
Good, but carbohydrates a mess

Excellent Primary SourceThe limitations of the book are due to the limitations of the source material itself -- art work is pen-and-ink drawings, and the printing is small and sometimes hard to follow. But that's part of dealing with a primary source.
Good as a companion to more detailed books about reenactments and costume history (authors such Janet Arnold, Jean Hunnisett, Nancy Bradfield, the Cunningtons, and Norah Waugh). Probably wouldn't stand alone or be that good for a beginner since it would need some "interpretation" for the modern reader; the introduction to the book covers the limitations and would be good to review before delving into the work itself.
I found the close-ups of the hair styles and gowns to be helpful, but again, the novice might be asking, "Where do I go from here?"
Worth the wait!

Entertaining and useful book with some limitations
A Real Treasure for any Fly Fisherman or Collector of Tackle

Exceptional!!The book travels like a runaway express train from one shattering climax to the next!!
Considering the news headlines in the past few months, we can only hope that The Fifth Cylinder never becomes reality!
